Ok this is nuts, I think I may have trashed my Laptop Computer by wiping the keyboard.
I swiped the keyboard with a damp cloth to dust it off. The laptop was currently running. I did not pour water into the keyboard. The moment I finnish the job (just one quick swipe, mind you) the Laptop fans suddenly power up to 100%.
I expected to have triggered a really weird keyboard shortcut, so I turned it off / rebooted. The fans are now running at 100% all the time, right after booting.
This is not a heat issue. I regularly disassemble my computers to dust off the fans / coolers and apply fresh thermal compound. The Notebook is going cold while I type this, both CPU and GPU approaching 30°.
I think I mechanically broke something by gently swiping the keyboard. The thermal sensor are still working fine, SpeedFan reporting accurate values.
It's an i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz machine running Windows 8.1. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Edit: By now I repaired it. Here is what I did:
- I opened the Laptop
- I stared into it like that guy in front of the broken car with the opened up hood who clearly has no idea what hes doing
- I removed the RAM, HD and battery pack in search for the screw that holds the keyboard (didnt find it)
- Put it all back together and fired it up again
So basically I did nothing and I still might have a hardware issue on my hands. I'll leave this unanswered for maybe a couple of hours, maybe anyone has any idea of what might be going on there.
