I dropped my laptop (Dell Latitute E6430) from by bed (2-3 feet bed to floor) and it shut down from the fall. The laptop turns on fine and loads up as fast as before. When I log in the problem starts. Everything seems normal, but as soon as I try to open something it just freezes up. I can't CTRL + ALT + DELETE without it freezing and having to wait like 3 minutes to open task manager. When I do open it, it says that windows explorer is not responding. I also get an error saying that my windows framework is not working properly. I don't know what to do at this point. What could be wrong here?

Edit: I ran a diagnostic and it says it was unsuccessful, I got an Error Code: 2000-01-42; MSG: Hard Drive 0 - S/N W0Q8W272 --> I have no clue what anything of this means.

Solution

Probably not.
I am not entirely sure it is the hard drive, but it sounds like it is. Hard drives are nor that expensive.

You can get a 480GB SSD (which is probably WAY faster then your old hard drive assuming you had an HDD) for only $160.

Or you can...

Thanks for the quick reply! Is there anyway I can fix the hard drive though? Instead of having to by a new one?

Or you can get a 1TB HDD for $70. This is probably faster than your old one too. It is 7200RPM.

Who knows what they put in Dell laptops.

Solution

Yes i see how that is sort if begging. I just don't like it when there are real answers and people are working hard to help, and the OP just doesn't push that one button to let someone have some rcognition. I an not here to gain best answers I'm here to help people out! Thanks!
