My daughter wants a laptop that will do basic web and Netflix but also has just enough power to run Minecraft and some simple games. Money is an issue - I need to keep it under $400. No need for touchscreen or anything fancy.

My research suggests Asus and Acer seem to have the best budget laptops - what do you think? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'd recommend the Lenovo I have linked below. It is probably the best performance for the buck out there at this price and which will meet your daughter's needs.

Here are some of the key points:
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2500u - Good for budget gaming compared to Intel, as the processor has a respectable graphics card built-in, capable of running a few simple games well (Like Minecraft)
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM - Good amount for multi-tasking
  • 128GB SSD storage - Solid-state drives are much faster than your traditional hard drives at this price point and ultimately ensures for a snappy and speedy Windows and gaming experience
  • 15.6inch 1080p display
  • $403.95 - The price is a little over the budget, but worth it
Overall, I see this being able to meet your daughter's requirements well.

EDIT - DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3, which is even better 🆒
