Hi, I've been looking and searching for a laptop for college use. I have less than a year before going to college and I plan to major in engineering specifically Mechanical Engineer(If I get in).

So what I look for is:
-Battery life of at least 6-7+hours, a decent graphic card(for editing programs)
-At least an Intel Core i5 processor
-My budget is less than $1400 preferable below $1000.

I want to do some(just a little) gaming on this laptop but not heavy ones maybe just games like Maple or Lost Saga. I prefer Windows because of more compatibilities than Macs for programs and games but if there is no other laptops that can beat the macs in terms of the list above than I'll just play other games.

So far here is what I have found:
Apple MacBook Pro MD101LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop

Lenovo Y50 4k UHD

If you can suggest better ones and maybe a bit of a summary of your usage of your laptops(if you have one) during your college life will be great. Thank you.

Well, from my current experience, best "college" notebooks are HP Spectre 13 Pro, and Dell XPS 13. They though miss all of the capabilities to "game" whatsoever. They're both durable, solid, performance is great, displays are superb, and endurance is immense. But no gaming on those ones :\.

Otherwise, Lenovo Y50 4K is a great choice, and it's even a gaming notebook.
