Hi All,

I'm in the market for a new laptop, on the cheap as possible. I've already got a decent desktop with a GTX 970, but I like the idea of selling it all off except for the GPU, and attaching it externally to a new or used ultrabook. What is my best route here? The new Razerblade Stealth looks promising @$999, but who knows how much that chassis is going to be? If I wanted to go the DIY route, what's a suitable ultrabook for the task? 8GB ram and an i5 or i7 should be plenty horsepower if it's got the right connections for eGPU.

(I'm aware it's a long DIY process to make this happen. Let's say the chassis for the Razerblade is $300, that put's the whole thing @$1300. Is there a significantly cheaper alternative?)

Solution
MSI GS Series GS30 is a better solution as a docked laptop and will bring a much better processor. It costs more as as well. Unfortunately there is not a cheaper to do what you want done than getting stealth.
