Question laptop for handicapped wife

Feb 16, 2006
HI all!

My wife has multiple sclerosis and has use of only her right hand which is pretty weak. We'd like to replace her old laptop which is running painfully slowly.
We'd like a light unit with an easily readable screen and full keyboard with number pad, It's mainly sued for video streaming, email and word processing. Battery power doesn't matter as it is really only used pplugged in. Low cost would be a help. Any suggestions?

Off topic, but does anyone have a useful resource for creating shortcuts/tweaks in windows to make operating one handed easier? Easy to use dictation software? Dictation on her iphone is a blessing.

Thanks everyone!

Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope things get easier with all the advancements in tech we've had. Could you please follow the stylization of this thread? The community can then move forward with suggestions. On a side note, if the laptop is capable, we could suggest a cheaper alternative which is to change the laptop's OS drive(if it's on HDD alone) to an SSD and perhaps some more ram, provided the laptop can cater to said upgrades. Include the make and model of your existing laptop and it's SKU.
Windows settings has an accessibility section.
It allows for such as speech entry, cursor enhancement and such.

As to laptops, I think the lenovo thinkpads will have a single touch red keyboard button that might turn out to be particularly useful for one handed control.

The screens can vary, but you may want one that is brighter, like 400nits.
The x1 carbon units are particularly light.
