I'm sending the same laptop i recommended you, but with the i7 version. For gaming and general use, the acer packs more of a punch. The acer laptop has a stronger processor than the one on the dell and the 940m is a stronger graphics card than the r5 on the dell laptop. The 12gb of ram on the dell laptop won't make a difference unless your son is gonna have many big application opened at once. I think 1000 gb of storage is more than enough for his needs so 2000 gb of storage is not needed.
