My son is interested in a lightweight laptop so he can take photos on site and edit them with his photoshop skills. I'm told a 8gig i5 or better system is required. What say you?

I'm not very familiar with Photoshop and what is required but i do know budget is a big part so about how much do you have to spend?

Agree on those specs. Laptops are very subjective. Take him shopping at stores to get an idea.
First up, determine screen size. Larger is more cumbersome but maybe ideal for his work.
For the same price youll get more powerful specs in say an Acer but worse build quality VS a sony. (not disparaging Acer. I went with that option years ago)
