Laptop for school (and light gaming)

Hello, i'm looking for a new laptop that i'm planning to use for school. Here's what i'm looking for.

Budget:
$800-1100

Where I'm Buying:
Canada

When I'm buying:
Summer of 2014

Likes or Dislikes
I would like to avoid AlienWare or Apple computers (although with apple if it's necessary I will buy it)

Use:
As mentioned before I need a laptop for school. I need it to be light (around 2kg or 5 pounds,being light is a necessity)as well as durable, so I can carry it around. But I also want to play games such as Minecraft and several Emulated games at around 40-60+ fps.

Operating system:
I would like Windows 7 64 bit but I am open to other OS'

Screen:
I don't care too much about glare, But I really don't like touchscreens

Memory:
I would like around 500GB of memory but I can get an External Hard Drive

RAM:
Around 6GB

Optical drive:
I can get an external one, but if it can be on the laptop it would be nice. No HD though.

Battery life:
5 1/2 hours

Speakers:
I'm not a big fan of music, so if the speakers are not the best quality I can live without them, I'm going to use headphones anyway.

New or Refubished:
New

Design:
Design is importent, but not nescessary
