Laptop for school under 1000$ Canadian

I'm looking for a laptop for school. I'm interested in a macbok air, but they are quite expensive. I was wondering if anyone knew any other laptops around 1000$ canadian that are thin and stylish like the macbook, but also good performance wise.

Sadly, thin and powerful is usually expensive. Usually on the at 1000 USD or greater mark, even higher with CAD.

However, right now the new HP Envy is on sale on their website. I myself have a Folio 13 (closest to a MacBook from HP) and my wife has the last gen Envy 14 and loves it.

Hopefully this link works, but with free shipping and 200 bucks off, this notebook with a Core i7-6500U, 8GB of DDR4 memory, a full 1920x1080 resolution display, and a 256GB M.2 SSD is only about 950 bucks CAD.

sure you get a nice looking laptop but with the horrible track record HP has i would tread lightly with that brand
