Laptop for Testing 1Gbps Service

I have a need to purchase laptops that can do 1Gbps speed testing. I need the laptops to be capable of pulling the max 947gbps speeds that would be reported on sites like speedtest.net.

The laptops won't be used for anything other than speed tests, but of course I'm trying to keep the cost reasonable.

I've tested everything from Core i3s, Core i5's, to Core i7's; HPs to Asus laptops. Generally the HPs will pull around 550-650 mbps, the Asus Core i5's seem to hit around 850mbps. But I am really needing something that would consistently pull 1gbps (940Mpbs or higher).

Are you sure your laptop tests are representative? That is, are you sure it is not the connection or other the server which limits you to 840mbps?

I would bring (for tests) a desktop with known-to-be-good gigabit Ethernet card, to make sure you can get your 1gbps before testing laptops.

I would also skip altogether laptops you can buy in Bestbuy/Wallmart, I would look for business class unit.
