Hi everyone,
I upgraded my HP Pavilion 15-au020wm laptop's RAM which is DDR4 2133 to DDR4 2400 and since then my laptop has been randomly freezing for a few seconds every so often. I've been searching for answers and I am not sure if I am understanding what I'm reading. Can I and should I update the setting in the BIOS to reflect 2400? Should that correct the freezing? Excuse me if I am way off base.

Thanks for any help!

Can you elaborate on how you upgraded the ram? Mixed and matched two different sticks? Did you make sure your laptop's BIOS was updated prior to the ram upgrade?

I swapped out 2 sticks of 4GB DDR4 2133 with 2 sticks of 8GB DDR4 2400. No I did not update my BIOS beforehand. Thanks for any help!

You should check your bios to see what your memory is running at. What memory did you purchase? Here is support page for your laptop. You can use the troubleshooting app to check your computer. https://support.hp.com/us-en/produc...pc-series/10862158/model/11830116?sku=W2L54UA
Yes. It says it's running at the upgraded 16GB total. (I swapped out 2 sticks of 4GB DDR4 2133 with 2 sticks of 8GB DDR4 2400. I assumed all I had to do was swap the physical memory sticks but I'm getting random freezes for a few seconds. This does not happen all the time though. Thanks for the link. I have run several diagnostics but I will run the ones on the support page as well. Thanks!

It is still freezing. It happens quite often, like every 60 seconds for 10 seconds. Since the new memory is 2400 and the old 2133 I am wondering if I have to make any changes to the BIOS? or is it not going to work? Thanks for any help!
