Laptop freezing randomly

Hey,
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2-14 laptop (with the hard disk upgraded to ssd) running windows 8.1 which I've bought about a year ago.
Recently my computer started to randomly freeze. The freezes are random (as far as I can tell) and doesn't occur that much (about once a day or two), but once it freezes it freezes completely (can't even move the mouse) for about 20 seconds, and then it will keep freezing in short intervals until I restart the computer.
I'm not sure whether it's a software or hardware problem, as the computer isn't old, but recently a plastic covering broke (just a small piece covering the connection between the keyboard part and the monitor part) and I didn't get to covering it again yet. That also means I'm not sure if I'm on the correct forum, please tell me if I need to ask this in another category.

What can I do to help identify the problem and hopefully solve it?

Thanks,
Dorham

So for some reason after posting the question my computer didn't freeze for about a week, and I didn't remember exact time of when it froze so I couldn't check the eventvwr. But today it froze just after I logged on, so I checked the eventvwr and I can't see anything suspicious.
Is there a way to upload data from the eventvwr from a certain time window so you can look if there are any details about the freeze (I'm no expert so maybe something is completely wrong and I just didn't realize it).
