Laptop gets blue screen when plugged in to TV

When I connect my samsung laptop to my Panasonic tv via hdmi my laptop instantly gets the blue error screen then shuts down. This also happens when I tried my partners laptop and I have also tried two hdmi leads. Is there a solution to this as I'd like to watch things on my laptop through my tv. Thanks

have you tried a different hdmi port on the tv or another device into that port like a bluray or game console? sounds like the pins in that port are bent or something and cause a short. since you've eliminated the cable and tried a different laptop, it leads me to the port on the tv.
