Question Laptop going to sleep at 83 degrees

My laptop is the Asus Fx502VM, bought it about a year and a half ago. When I first got it and I did not know about undervolting (which greatly improved my temps) I would game with the laptop running at around 85-90 degrees Celsius. Fast forward to today and my laptop never goes above 86 degrees while gaming which is an absolutely normal for any gaming laptop at full load.(due to undervolting). BUT the moment the laptop reaches the 82-85 degree range it goes to sleep automatically! This is extremely annoying as any moderately demanding game is rendered unplayable due to laptop going to sleep! From what I know this behavior occurs when the system reaches a critical temp to protect the hardware from getting damaged. But it used to be that the laptop could go up to even 95 degrees and still run no problems but now the cutoff point is reduced to 83! Any help/ideas would be much appreciated!
