I have a old laptop hp pavilion dv-2036ea. It had overheating problems always. It's normal cpu temp is at idling about 50c and gpu idle is about 130c. When trying to watch a video on youtube, it plays a while and then laggs, because heat. But after i changed the thermal paste, because old one was dried out, it's gpu temps go up to 170c in 20 minutes and then i will get the distorted screen. Cpu temps go up to 90c easily. The laptop does not get hot when touching it, if opened up some covers, then hdd feels even hotter than a corner of cpu heatsink, that i can reach. So is my gpu temp sensor broken, because a gpu can't run so hot i think? And those high temps show in every program i ever used(speedfan, msi afterburner and some kind linux program). If i underclock the gpu in msi afterburner, the temps stay a while in the 130c range and when i try to do something then it gets too hot and screen goes crazy again.
My question is how to get laptop running cooler again, and can my temp sensor be broken.
YES my laptop fan works, it does not spin at full speed, even if temps go crazy.
YES i have cleaned my laptop from dust.
