Question Laptop GPUs

I recently got a Dell inspiron 17 7535 from a friend. It has an i7 4500u with 8gb ram and intel 4400 graphics. I want to upgrade this, but im not sure if its possible to buy and install a laptop GPU. If not, what is your suggestion for an adapter so I can use an external GPU?

You cannot install a discrete GPU. Nor would an external GPU do you any good - any decent GPU will be limited by the much slower CPU.

Okay, would it be worth putting a gt 1030 in my desktop? Its an HP Pavilion Elite with a Core 2 Quad and 8 gb of ram.

It would not be much better than the integrated GPU of the Core 2 Quad.

Go with at least a GTX 1050 if you want some sort of upgrade.

The integrated graphics get about 15-20 fps on every game, minimum settings. On 1030 OC benchmarkss, 1080p gaming with low-medium settings can get around 60 fps on many games. Am I doing something wrong with the integrated graphics? Or were those benchmarks inaccurate?
