So I recently got a new laptop for college and i enjoy casually gaming on it. for some reason it just absolutely hates multiplayer games. I play Fallout 4 or Borderlands 2 at high settings and it works perfectly fine but if i go to a game such as Playerunknowns Battlegrounds, CS:GO, or even Garry’s Mod it doesn’t work at all. I can’t tell if the issue is only with Steam games because if i go and play League of Legends it works 100% fine at high settings with zero freezing. I also get minor freezing with single player graphics intensive games but that’s just expected considering it’s a laptop and that is manageable. I just do not understand this at all considering I could play these exact same games on my old one that is over 5 years old with absolutely no issues and had specs that were half as good as this one with only 4 GB of ram compared to the 8 i have now.
I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone can give me. thank you.

EDIT: I only know this is not a network issue because my little brother and a few friends have been over playing the exact same games with me and their laptops work completely fine the entire way through with no freezing/lagging and i even sometimes get a connectivity issue warning while their still going strong with whatever we’re doing with zero issues.

For starters please post the model of the laptop in addition to any custom or special order modifications that you have on the laptop. Also make sure that you post what version of Windows you are using and if you've changed that at all. A lot of these things can be caused by issues in drivers, but it will be important to know the specifications that you're on.

It is an HP Notebook. Windows 10 Home came with it and has never been changed. AMD A12-9700P Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G, 2500 Mhz 4 core processor. 8 gb ram, 1 TB hard drive. just listed the rest of the specs just because and all of that hardware is the original. The wireless network adapter in the laptop is an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 if that makes any difference and again original part.

Those specs are plenty enough to where your games shouldn't be badly freezing up, as of right now your best bet is to check up on Steam's Firewall settings and make sure that steam is allowed through your firewall as you're only having trouble with multiplayer games.

Got rid of McAfee since it was just the trial version that expired on my device and reverted back to windows defender then checked the settings and still having issues. still lags horribly on Garrys mod and Player Unknowns Battle Grounds for some reason but league still works fine just like before.
