Hey guys,

So my older laptop's harddrive has kicked the bucket. It's shot. Since the laptop isn't actually too bad and still gets the job done i thought i would replace the harddrive.

This thing came with a 320gb 5400rpm drive. Would it be possible to put in a bigger drive like a 500 for example? and would it even be worth it? is 5400 enough?

I've never worked on laptops before so this should be fun 😛

any help is appreciated.

putting in more GB isnt a problem. you could put a 1tb in there if you wanted. whether or not it is worth it is up to you. depends how much you want to store on your laptop.

one thing to keep in mind is, typically, the bigger the storage space on a hard drive, the faster that drive *tends* to be. simply because of data density.

5400 rpm is enough, but of course it is slower than a 7200 rpm drive.

one thing to keep in mind is the laptop hard drive height. typically laptops will only take drives that are 9.5mm in height. it is pretty much considered a standard. most laptop hard drives are this height but some are 12.5mm. so keep an eye out for that.
