Laptop has become unresponsive

Hello.

My laptop's OS is Windows 10 (bought it a few months ago) and recently it has become unresponsive. When I click on anything it takes AGES to load. Yesterday I wanted to uninstall a game I finished playing and I noticed that when I click on 'Settings', it opens but it won't load. it just shows a blue screen. Skype, when I click on it, pops up, then disappears. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn't work. Right now I believe it's worse. I can't click on chrome. It hasn't loaded. I can't click on anything. When I try to type in the search bar, it won't budge. Running a virus scan/updated and still unresponsive. Yesterday when I wanted to shut it down, it wouldn't shut down either.

Download crystal disk info and check the health of your HDD.

Sounds like it may be dying and need to be replaced.

Thank you. I did run chkdsk but that is taking ages because my hard drive is large. I will download crystal disk. It is a new laptop, not refurbished. If this doesn't help I will have to return it.
