Hi, My sons new laptop was really fast when he first got it. He was getting around 70 to 80 FPS in The Isle but now its dropped to 30 - 40fps.

Laptop Model: MSI GF75 Thin 10SDR

Specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.82 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

I ran a userbenchmark test and got these results

UserBenchmarks: Game 43%, Desk 68%, Work 33%
CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H - 56.2%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660-Ti (Mobile) - 73.9%
SSD: Kingston OM8PCP3512F-AI1 512GB - 107%
RAM: Samsung M471A1K43DB1-CWE 1x8GB - 42.8%
MBD: MSI MS-17F3

Can anyone suggest any way to fix this?

Thanks

Eric

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

First check to see if the laptop has any BIOS updates pending, then check to see if the OS(if on Windows 10) is pending any updates. ideally the OS should be on 21H2 for Windows 10. Once that's done, download the latest drivers for the GTX1660Ti from Nvidia's support site and use DDU to uninstall all GPU drivers from the platform, reinstall latest driver in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

See if that brings the FPS back up to what it once was.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I checked the Bios and I am on the most up to date version. I used DDU to remove and install the new drivers they way you suggested. That seems to have increased the FPS in the game to around 50 - 60. I have checked my version of windows and I am running Windows 10 Home, Version 20H2, Installed on ‎07/‎10/‎2021 but I am unsure how to update this to 21H2.

I am concerned that my RAM is showing as underperforming, the userbenchmark suggests turning on XMP in the bios but I see no option to do this in the Bios. Do you knw of another way to change this?

Also the CPU is showing that is underperforming. Are there better tests I can run on the laptop to see whats wrong?

Thanks
