Laptop has wireless Internet that goes off at times and won't update Windows Service pack

Why does both my smartphone and other laptop have no problems with the wireless Internet on network but this other Acer laptop has problems all the time? When it has a problem connecting I diagnose it and do windows repair and I recently updated software for the hardware that connects the wifi but windows will not update service pack 2. What do I do to keep the Internet connection and be able to update Windows service pack?

make sure under wifi adaptor you turn off windows power management or windows will afer a set time power the adaptor off. if you tried downloading once and the file is damaged...you have to turn off windows update services and then clean out the windows update download folder. then reboot and the try again.
