Hello, I've got this laptop that has a strange problem. Basically, in google chrome I cannot click on the search bar, the back and forward buttons to change page, and the options button on the top right (this also happens in Opera with the search bar and the back and forward buttons). This is my fathers laptop so I assumed he downloaded something dodgy. I ran malwarebytes and AVG to see if they could find anything and nothing came up. That was on Windows 10. I installed Windows 8.1 to see if that would fix the problem. Completely fresh install on a different OS and the problem still remains. He does have a wireless logitech mouse, but I've changed the battery in it and also tried my own wired mouse and we still had the same problem.
I did move his files over from his previous install, but the files are only a few videos, PDF's and some Word and Excel files, nothing out of the ordinary. Do you guys think that malware is hiding somewhere in his files? I've googled this problem already but I didn't find much.
Sorry about the wall of text, but I do hope someone could help us out. Cheers
(Hopefully this is the right category)
