Hey everybody, I always browse this site for answers, but now I have decided to join since this site and its members have never let me down! I am glad to be here officially now!

I am going to be doing my first PC build, to replace my 5-year old Sony Vaio. I want to use my Current drive to get my system going. It will only be for about 6-8 months, since I still need what is on my drive; don't want to deal with swapping stuff right now, plus I am still working on my degree.

The drive is a 2.5" 500GB from a VPCCW21FX. Is there anything I need to get the drive installed and running, besides a slim SATA cable?

You don't even need a slim SATA cable. The connections on a desktop HDD and laptop HDD are the same.

Make sure you backup your data because you never know when that drive will fail. Make sure you do get the new one ASAP.
