Hello. I tried loading up my laptop last night and I got sent to the windows error recovery screen. All the options in launch startup repair don't work because I don't have a detected HDD or operating system. I already tried most of the options on the screen after pressing f8 during bootup. I use windows 7 and my computer is the Asus N56VM.

Test the hard drive with the drive manufacturer's diagnostic software which loads from a bootable CD so Windows is not required to run the test. The links are here:

Use IMGBURN on a working PC to create the CD from the ISO file: http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Boot your laptop from that CD and the test program will open.
if the test says the drive has failed it will have to be replaced.
