I have a laptop HDD that is in RAW state. I put it in my hot swap bay and my computer wouldn't recognize it. After a few tries, I got the tone Windows 10 plays and the drive showed up in My Computer. I don't care about anything on the drive, I just want to be able to use it.
If I double click the drive it will take a while and then a dialog box pops up and reads, "Location is not available. I:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect."
If I right click on the drive and select 'format', it will say it's formatting but then a dialog box pops up that reads, "Windows was unable to complete the format".
I opened up Disk Management and it shows the drive correctly, I: 465.76 GB RAW Healthy (Active Primary Partition). I right click and choose 'format' and it shows it is formatting and after a while a dialog box pops up saying, "The format did not complete successfully".
If I right click while in Disk Management and choose, 'Delete Partition', it will say "The request could not be performed because of an I\O device error".
If I right click and choose 'properties' it shows 0 bytes used, free and capacity. If I choose 'Tools' and then 'Error Checking' a dialog box pops up stating "The disk check could not be performed because Windows can't access the disk".
Windows 10 popped out a message about errors with the disk and ran some sort of repair upon reboot but that didn't fix anything.
I downloaded and ran a program called 'testdisk' and tried everything that offered but it didn't change anything. Whatever I try to do takes a while before I get any pop ups. Which is very unusual with my computer. I use an SSD for my C Drive and I have 32 GB RAM so it's usually very fast.
At this point I'm out of ideas. Like I said, I'm not concerned with anything that may be on the disk. I'd just like to format it and be able to use it again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
