Hi....I want to upgrade my laptop HDD to SSD.....

My laptop is HP G62-340US ( 2009 or 2010 model)

- AMD Athlon 2.2 Ghz
- RAM 3GB
- HDD 320 GB
- AMD Radeon HD 4250 256mb

I want to upgrade to SSD just to increase performance for casual use like Internet surfing, music, movies....etc....

So, I was thinking of Intel pro 2500 240 GB......

Also, will my old laptop support an SSD.....

Thanks

The upgrade is viable and your PC should support it. I'm not sure which SATA version it has, but I believe it's SATA II (3Gbits/sec). Even if it's SATA I, the follow-on SATA II and III drives are backwards compatible. The Pro 2500 is an enterprise SSD - it should work fine, but the Samsung 840 EVO linked below would probably be better, and it costs less to boot. I also included a link to an SSD installation in that model of laptop. It's a different SSD, but the process should be identical.
