I had a similar problem on my XP Laptop. Did you recently change your Routers Password? if so Try forgetting the network, then re entering the Password. It might say you're connected but you're not, Windows XP is tricky when it comes to internet connection things like that, it really should be more simple.

I recently did change the code for my modem, and I entered it correctly in my laptop, but it doesn't seem to be working. :/
