Question Laptop is acting very slow ?

I have an Acer Aspire V3 711g laptop that I take on holidays for gaming and watching videos. It's acting very slow, I have measured that it only reaches 1mb\s disk write and read speed which does not seem to match with it's specs I found online (around 230 mb\s) I would like some help with identifying and remedying the problem if possible. The laptop is several years old and had to have it's hard disk changed due to a mechanical failure.

I appreciate all the help I can get.

Your HDD is limited to SATA-150, any SSD will get you SATA-300 or 600 (depending on the laptop's chipset).

Thank you lvt and rgd1101 for the help. I will visit my local computer repair shop when I'm back home and ask them to order and replace the HDD with a SSD. I've found them from 45 to 80 euro price range so I should be able to save up for it in 1 month.
