Short story
- Laptop doesn't turn on or make a sound I when press the on button, only a blinking light from the on and off button
- When the laptop is running on the battery it blinks once every couple of seconds non stop
- When I put the power plug into it constantly blinks non stop
The laptop is completely dead I get no light at the charger socket either, but when I put the charger into the the socket the light starts blinking constantly. The blinking lights come from the on and off switch on the laptop and is the only source of life that the motherboard might be alive.
Full story on what happened
Basically I opened the laptop up to clean it up as the fan looked really dirty. I've repaired and fixed many laptops before so It was nothing new to me. As I cleaned up the entire laptop and I closed it back up and turned it on I noticed a fan crackling nose then the fan stopped working. So I opened it back and I noticed a piece of the fan snapped and got stuck inside and made the rest of fan stop working so I just take it out and close it back up normally.
For some reason as the 2nd time I'm closing the laptop back up I test it and the screen starts giving vertical coloured lines all over the screen I'm surprised. So after some research apparently its either the screen , lcd cable or on board graphics. So I knew it wasn't my on board graphics as I connected a external monitor to use the laptop. And the only thing I constantly removed to take off the fan was the lcd cables so I assumed it was the lcd cables.
I received my new lcd cables yesterday and today I put them on once I did that just I turned it on to test that screen is working or still the same. Well the result I got was a blank screen but if I hold the power off button it the screen flashes once then laptop turns off but if I turn it on its completely blank. Whilst my other lcd cables gave at least vertical coloured lines all over the screen with this cable I just got blank screen that's it. So to make matters worse as I was testing the new cables laptop the motherboard just dies and everything turns of randomly and I have the charger in so i was surprised.
So from cleaning my laptop and fan up I came to a point where my LCD stopped working and to top that off, my motherboard is now dead as well. I'm not really sure what I can do at this point as I've never had a laptop that gave me this much hassle. The laptop is about 5 years old.
My last point the charger might have died but I can't tell since their is no light on the charger but if it has why does the laptop light start blinking rapidly when I connect it must be receiving some sort of power. I don't really have anything else to really try actually so I'm wondering can anybody help me?
Also I have reset the laptop many times that didn't work either.
I've added the pictures of the blinking light and the socket port.
