laptop is not running

few days back my seagate hdd is crashed(i thought), so i brought a ne WD hdd. For 15 days it responded cooly but now laptop is not responding though the power and hdd light is beeping.my older hdd runs now but not the new one. the new WD hdd can be detected with using a external adapter. i dont know where my problem is. plz help..
my laptop specification:
i3
500gb 5400rpm HDD
6gb ram
1gb graphics card(geforce GT520M)
