Hello, i own a Dell n5110. I know it is 3 years old and i should change it, but money is tight right now. Specs are: i5-2430m nvidia gt525m 4 gb RAM.
The only game i play often on my laptop is Dota 2, which is not a high demanding game. Until a few months ago, the game used to run just fine on high settings. Now, low fps. I even put the graphic settings down to minimal, and there's not much increase in performance. I thought a format would solve it, but no. The laptop is just as slow as pre-format. I have ALL the drivers up to date. A few months ago my charger failed. Then i used a knock-off charger to keep the laptop alive. Then my battery failed, if that counts.
I'm pretty sure it''s a hardware issue.
L.E.: performance is affected both in-game and OS.
Temperatures are nominal.

You should run a hard disk test, I work on laptops daily and when a hard disk starts to fail it will slow a good system down to a crawl. Go to device manager and locate the HARD DISK manufacturer and model. Then go to the Manufacturers website and download diagnostic tools for your model.
Most have a Quick test and a Full test be sure to run both (If both are available)

If it is failing then I would consider installing an SSD

Thanks! I''ll try that out. Will be back with updates. :)
