Laptop keeps shutting down without any warning during installation of Kali Linux

I own a HP Pavilion g6 2312ax. I'm trying to install kali linux v2017 using a usb drive alongside with windows 10.
When the installation starts after specifying partitions and stuff, the "installing the system" screen comes on, the progress bar reaches upto 4% and stays at it for about 4-5 mins and then the computer shuts down without any warning. I've no idea why is that happening. My laptop has been serviced recently so it can't be a thermal shut down. I'm allocating 200gb to the linux partition.

Amd A10 4600M
8 GB Ram
WD Hdd (don't remember the model)
Gpu- 7660g+7670m dual graphics

Why have you chosen Kali, which is oriented toward network professionals (and not for home-grown "hackers")?

Have you tried mainstream distro, like Ubuntu or Mint?

My college professor asked us to install it.
Instead of questioning my choice, can we please concentrate on finding a solution instead?

I have asked another question, too, for a reason. Modern, mainstream distro tend to have more recent kernel, with better chances of working on a laptop.

If this is your first touch with Linux, make sure you can restore your laptop back to usable condition.

I have succeeded in installing kali on this system about 2 years back. But that was when i knew nothing about it.
But now it is posing this problem.

Is it the same version you are trying to install now?

No. It's a different one.

Again: Have you tried current mainstream distribution on your laptop? And if your older version of Kali used to work, why you did not try it instead?

Because I don't remember what version it was. And well i've installed mint as the alternative now.

If you need Kali, run it in a vm. Not much point to have a hard-install.
If Mint works, then Kali should to. If you ABSOLUTELY need Kali hardinstalled, use an older version like 2016.x or 2017.1. Then run dist-upgrade to see how it reacts
