Hello guys,

I have laptop with:

Core i7 7500U
16GB RAM
HD Graphics 620
R5 M330

I am trying to play Genshin Impact and my predicament is that when I am running it on battery the game runs fine CPU is 99-100% utilized and R5 M330 is also utilized 95-100%. But when I connect the charger the game starts lagging and R5 M330 usage drops to 25-40% and never goes beyond that. I have configured the power plan as performance and set everything in the advanced setting on maximum performance as well (Intel Graphics Power Plan, Processor Power Management (5% on minimum and 100% on maximum, system cooling as active), switchable dynamics graphics, AMD Graphics Power Settings ) but to no avail. Any help will be appreciated!

Hey there,

Welcome to the forum.

You might just go ahead and put in the high power plan directly, rather than changing another profile.

Just open PowerShell and paste this: powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c

Then change the plan and see if it helps.

OMG Thank you so much!!! That actually worked, my cpu and gpu are now being 90-95% utilized! I tried everything from changing power plans to messing some settings in bios. Thank you so much for this!

Glad to help! :) Yes, those darn pesky power profiles can be a real pain in the butt. Better to install them directly (they are only really hidden) to take advantage of them.

There's also the Ultra profile : powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61.

But it's not meant for laptops really, and specially not on battery power.

Good luck and happy gaming :)
