Question Laptop lags on updating

I have a Lenovo B570, that lags on checking for updates. The searches I'm doing says to look for kb articles that MS doesn't seem to keep any more, or will not work with my machine. Any ideas? this thing is getting slow as a slug.

Why are you looking for updates? Are they not downloading and installing on their own?
