So I made a previous thread discussing why there was no display on my laptop, no backlight as it seems and I replaced the display cable with a different one, still same issue. So is it absolute that it would be the LCD that needs to be replaced (something wrong with inverter of display or something else within the actual display itself)?

I connected the laptop to an external monitor which works perfectly fine, I can login to Windows and do any other tasks as I would normally.

My laptop model is an HP Envy x360 15-w158ca

I was looking through third-party suppliers and found a laptop which seemed to have the same bezel, display and overall size and it's listed under the same manual of my original (non-working) laptop, this laptop being the HP Envy x360 m6-w103dx ("for parts and repairs", as it was missing the hard drive and memory, but other than that the display was working fine)

MANUAL:
HP ENVY x360 m6 Convertible
Model numbers: m6-w000 – m6-w099
Model numbers: m6-w100 – m6-w199
HP ENVY x360 Convertible
Model numbers: 15-w200 – 15-w299

So would this "for parts & repair laptop" I found work? Could I take the display from this laptop and put it in my laptop?

Try to find the parts list for each model Envy x360

For example:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06522070

There may be country differeneces "For use" - where is the seller? However that does not necessarily mean that the laptop came from the same area/country.

Compare part numbers/spare part number etc.

Ideally, if the part numbers match then the replacement would work.

Unfortunately, "ideally" is not objective.....

Do not spend/risk more money than you are willing to lose.

It's on eBay from a seller in the US, while I am in Canada, I was doing some more research after I posted this thread and it seems like there is a video on a disassembly of the laptop and the internal looks almost if not identical to mine, also I looked on this website called laptopscreen.com and compared both models, the main factors it told me to look out for was:
Note:
Make sure new screen has same size, resolution, connector type as your old one!

Everything seemed to match each other so there's that and for the manual, my resolution for my old laptop screen 1920x1080 FHD and it seems to be the same display:

Display assembly subcomponents
Item - (1)
Component - Raw display panel
Spare part number - HD panel - 807531-001
- FHD panel - 807532-001
- FHD panel (for use only in models 15-w200 - 15-w299) - 863978-001

Everything seems to look good and fine, and for the pricing it's around 100 usd after tax and shipping for the laptop, which is better than any OEM or generic display I could find
