My moms laptop seems to lose internet connection at random times. The only way I know to fix it is to restart the router but that is annoying to do as there are other users in the house.
The laptop is Lenovo g500 with windows 10.

Also the problem doesn't seem to be with the internet since the other laptop works fine.

Solution
The issue can be any number of things, but most likely suspect would be the "power saving" features which are turned on by default, which is how the laptop lasts so long. Be warned, turning off the power saving features means the laptop will 'eat up' the battery faster usually down to lasting to the norm of 1 to 1 1/2 hours only.

First click the 'battery' icon in the bottom right tray. Then select Power & Sleep settings. On the next panel look to the bottom right side Related Settings and click on Additional power settings. New panel that opens click on Show Additional Plans and select High Performance. This will shift the system to FULLY USE its potential, but that also means it eats up battery life faster. Now close those panels...

Now close those panels, and click the WIFI icon, and select the Network Settings. In the new panel scroll down again to Related Settings and click on Change Adapter Options. Double click the Wifi hardware (it is the one 'connected' with a Wifi / Cell phone signal bar). Click under the Activity section PROPERTIES, then CONFIGURE in the new panel, finally click on the Power Management tab, and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

This would be the most likely resolution. Try it and then we can look at other known issues that also cause the same problems next.
