Laptop Making Clicking/Getting Stuck Noise Upon Start-Up

Hi, My ASUS X551C PC has recently started making a sort of clicking noise as if something is getting stuck upon start up. My dad thought it may have been the hard drive failing however i wondered if there were any other possible reasons and, if so, solutions? It's only around 1 year and 9 months old so surely i haven't worn it out already..! Thanks.

Clicking is normally always the hard drive. Back it up ASAP and get a new drive.

Hi there Emzaroo,

I would also say that you need to back up your data as soon as possible. It doesn't really matter how old the HDD is. Sometimes, they just fail.
After that, you can test the drive with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

In case the notebook is still under warranty, it may be a good idea to contact the place where you got it from.
