Laptop Memomy Upgrade Help

Hello I have a Laptop that has 2 memory slots.. one slot has a 4GB installed which is the one that It came with.. the other one is empty.. I think the laptop is upgradable up to 16GB.. I was wondering can I install a 8GB memory on the empty slot? they're both DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) the only difference between them is the size.. so can I install the 8GB without any problem?

confirm first if it supports more tham 8G, if it does, then go add the 8G, you'll be fine. but better if you check the manual if you can mix different ram capacity

You are not going to "Break" anything by trying to add the 8GB of ram. It will either boot up and run, or not. But it is best that the 8GB be of the same brand as the 4GB. Also, once installed check the timings (Use CPU-Z). They should be the same for both sticks.
