Laptop memory: Can I do this?

I have an older Dell Dimension 600 m laptop that I would like to upgrade the memory on. It uses DDR 333 (PC 2700) and currently has 512 mb consisting of 2 x 256 mb. Can I pull out one of the 256 mb modules and replace it with a 1 Gb module to create 1.25Gb of memory, or must both of the modules match in size?

It should work, I've got 1x1gb and 1x256mb on my inspiron 6000 (ddr2 though).

You need to check the motherboard to make sure it can use DDR2 RAM, and if so, the maximum speed it supports.
