I am looking to build a briefcase pc and would like to integrate the monitor from a laptop. I am wondering if anybody knows how to hook one of these up to a Radeon 9600 Pro with VGA and DVI outputs. The monitor is from a TwinHead laptop. Thanks for any and all help.

I would also like to know if anyone has any information on hooking up a laptop monitor to a regular video card, or if it is even possible.

One of the many challenges of this project is the lcd controller. Unless you have a working knowledge of lcd manufacturing, it may prove cost prohibitive. A new lcd controller can be from $150-$500+. In the briefcase idea (not sure why a laptop wouldn't meet the requirements of a briefcase package) you could buy a commercial grade display screen and use the provided schematic/controller to wire up your system. Take a look at General Digital.

Pretty good source for lcd needs Earth LCD. Their prices are pretty reasonable.

Would it be possible to scavenge the controller out of a laptop? I am trying to do this with some spare components laying around. Just looking to make something I can take over to my buddies house and link up. If it is too cost prohibitive, I'll just drag my CRT monitor over there. I need the exercise anyway.
