So, I am using HP EliteBook 8440P and it was 2gb of ram so I upgraded it with 4gb means 2gb+4gb=6gb of ram but after inserting ram my laptop is not booting up its stuck in infinite loop booting till windows logo and then power off then again till windows logo and power off and running till I remove its battery.
Anyone have solution for this ?
Just some troubleshooting steps;
Put ONLY the newly bough RAM and see if the laptop boots. If it does. The preblem isn't in the new RAM.
Generally,
upgrading RAM doesn't work well. Usually similar problems arise, due to RAM not being identical. While some may have luck in running vastly different RAM, others may not even have luck in running the RAM of the same model, but purchased at different time frames or as different kits.
You can only call RAM identical if it was purchased in the
same kit, which this wasn't. As I mentioned above, it may or may not work, so when upgrading the RAM, its recommended to use ONLY the new RAM sticks. These problems can be reduced by doing so.
Secondly, is that RAM you purchased, the same model as the original RAM in the system or is it of a different clock speed (frequency) and latency? (if you're unable to tell, please give the RAM model number/SKU for us to identify)
Enough explaining, lets get to a possible solution for this.
> One thing you could do is to update the BIOS of your system.

This
could help with RAM compatibility issues, but isn't guaranteed to work (read above explanation)
> Try a CMOS reset to see if that helps as well.
