Laptop not booting, HDMI

Hi I'm hoping somebody can help me with this,

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P50-C and earlier today when I was doing a virus check the laptop turned off and won't boot up now. Another problem being that the backlight on my screen has been broken for a while, but now that the laptop won't boot up, I can't use a HDMI to a monitor to try and fix the boot problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

The laptop starts booting up when i press the power up button and the power stays on but there is no sign of it getting past the boot up stage. Once it gets to the login page it usually sends the picture to my monitor but its not even doing that!
