[SOLVED] Laptop not connecting to 3440x1440

So I tried a MacBook with my 3440x1440 panel, and it worked via HDMI

But when I tried a Windows laptop it didn't. I tried to lower the refresh rate but it only went down to 59hz. The max resolution it supported was 2560x1440 (and I had to go to advanced settings to make it support that)

Why did it work on Mac and not windows?

Apparently it supports HDMI 1.4b

Don't think it supports that resolution at that refresh rate. Looking around it seems depending on the monitor, video out put and even the cable used people are getting it to run at custom refresh rates varying form 30hz to around 50hz.

Ah yes you're right. Turns out I was setting a lower refresh rate to the laptop display than the monitor.
Is there an application that I can use to lower the refresh rate? Windows is only letting me go down to 59hz in the ultrawide.

Try Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) @ 30Hz or 24. You may not like the look of the refresh rate though.

I've been trying to do it through Intel graphics.
When I set it to 30hz 3440x1440, it says input not supported on the monitor

You're out of luck then. Would have been a different story if laptop had Hdmi 2.
