laptop not detecting wireless networks

i have a Toshiba satellite that is running windows 7 i bought a couple years ago i havent used it in a while but when i came to connect to my wireless it shows no connection even though i know that there is a wireless connection can someone please tell me what is the problem and how i can fix it

The wireless card has to be enabled (hardware or software switches.?)
I presume you can see several wireless networks including your own
And you have given the correct. Wireless wep or wap- security key

the wireless access point can use a white list to keep out un invited users

Can other wireless devices connect to this access point ?
