[SOLVED] Laptop not posting after reapplying thermal paste

Recently my 8 year old Asus K53E seems to be thermal throttling, lowering to 30-40% cpu usage with heavy tasks. This brings most games, even chrome sometimes, to a standstill.

To fix this, I opened it up, cleaned the fans and heat sinks, and reapplied thermal paste, which was a dry crumbling texture. But after putting it back together, and turning it on, the display seems to just not work, it boots, just doesn't post anywhere, I've tried 2 different monitors, one of which I am using now. I have no battery in it (stopped working a while ago), and really no other place to turn to. So if anyone has an idea, I would be willing to try it.

Solution
1: take internal battery out leave it out.
Open everything up.
Reclean than just connect the mb no need to put the cover on test it.

Get one ram out and boot with one ram.
