After deleting a MS reserved partition my Dell e5440 suddenly stopped posting, so I removed one RAM stick and it booted normally, but after I rebooted it stopped posting again, so I replaced the stick and it booted up! Everytime I want to boot I have to change the amount or position of the RAM sticks (I have two 4GB DIMMs).
What is wrong? Thanks

... .. clean your ram connector pins with eraser then mount it if it doesn't help, provide more details about your system's configuration? and problem... it'll be helpful to understand the problem closely

I tested with other clean RAM sticks with the same reference and got the same behavior, my config:
Dell e5440, 12800 DDR3, I5-4300U. I can't think of any other details... The problem appeared suddenly, I turned the PC off and the power led was turning on and off as if I had put it to sleep, after that I couldn't get it to post, removing a ram stick solved this, then it would boot normally once and return to the same problem at shutdown, after which replacing the same stick would get it to post. The same cycle repeats...

As you told LED was turning on and off, it usually happens when RAM is not properly inserted. I would recommend you to insert ROM properly, push it inside the socket properly and then lock it. If it also doesn't help, try resetting your BIOS or update it with newer available versions. Most probably it's because of improper insertion of RAM but others may also be possible sometimes.

I tried reinserting many different sticks of the same type but to no avail, I also tried resetting the BIOS and removing the mobo battery but the problem persists.

Flashed it with latest version of BIOS? If yes then you definitely have problem with your RAM Socket.... if no..... give it a try --- goodLuck
