Laptop not recognizing memory

Hi,

I have a Thinkpad T440s and wanted to upgrade the memory to 12 GB. So, I bought an 8 GB stick of DDR3L memory and tried to install it. It's not being recognized, so I tried the stick in another laptop and it worked just fine. I figured the slot had to be defective but Windows still recognizes it in task manager and it shows up in CPU-Z. Is there an easy way to fix this?

If your windows is 32 bit, as many T440's were, then install 64bit.
Sadly there is no way to upgrade from 32bit to 64bit versions of windows.

I thought that might be the problem since I just purchased this laptop, but I checked the system properties and it is 64bit. I checked out the motherboard/port and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary so I'm not sure at this point haha.
