So I have an Asus K53SC, but it just refuses to shutdown. It says shutting down, turns the screen and all usb devices off, but fans keep spinning and the led is still on. When entering sleep I can't get out of it unless I do a hard reboot. What I've tried:
  • Disabling, uninstalling, updating and installing stock version of Intel Management Engine Interface - didn't work
  • Update chipset drivers
  • Disabling fastboot
  • Power cycle (unplug battery, charger and hold power for 30 seconds)
  • Reinstall Windows 7, 8.1, 10 (1607), 10 (20H2), only shuts down properly on recent builds of Windows 10, but performace sucks because Intel is too lazy to make a proper HD3000 driver for Windows 10
  • Revert BIOS back to stock settings
Specs:
ASUS K53SC
8GB DDR3
120GB SSD (SATA 3 slot) + 750GB HDD (DVD drive slot)
i5-2430m
HD Graphics 3000 + GT 520MX

I would like to try updating the BIOS, but I simply don't wanna take the risk seeing that I have to reboot manually instead of it doing it for me. What's also interesting is that it doesn't reboot in the Windows installer either, I have to do it manually.
