Laptop or pc

Hello I'm wondering if I should buy a laptop or build a pc. I'm a high school student and I saved up $1200. If I build a $1200 pc its going to be a crappy one and I'm going to have to rebuild it once I get more money. If I get a laptop I won't have to buy one when I go into college but it won't be as powerful. I am going to buy a laptop anyway. Should I:

Build a crappy PC and upgrade it overtime + buy a laptop when I get into college.
Buy a laptop.

If you have other options please tell me.

I don't really play much games other than the occasional cs, minecraft, and terrerria lan party's I go to. I'm thinking of getting into gaming but I might change my mind because college. I also don't wanna get a job because college. I have a scholarship btw. I will mainly use this for work station.

But then I would have to buy another laptop when I get into college. Don't laptops have dedicated graphics cards? I'm thinking of getting the Lenovo y50
